As for what doesn't work, it's mostly down to translations that seem to translate every word and name literally. Now, I have not read the original Chinese literature and so I cannot accurately compare the quality of the prose itself; I can't blame every part of the translation that doesn't work. For this edition, however, the prose feels unnatural and difficult to read; some don't even make sense. "An arrow hit the back of his head." And the same character who happens to sing as if nothing happened, what does that even mean?

What part of the arrow hit him that he was able to walk around without getting hurt? (This one example isn't the translator's fault, though, it's also in the original text, except it's at the nape of the neck instead of the head.) And then there's a character who runs into a pole and follows. literally died after that. Just think, getting an arrow in the back of the head and hitting a pole, which would kill an actual person? As for why I think everything was literally translated, this can easily be parsed from the character's name. Instead of sticking to the original Chinese name, the translator translated the name literally. Here are a few examples:
-Duan Tiande becomes Justice Duan
-Huang Rong becomes Lotus Huang
-Guo Xiaotian becomes Skyfury Guo
-Yang Tiexin becomes Ironheart Yang
-Bao Xiruo becomes Charity Bao
-Li Ping became Lily Li (Try saying this translated name over and over again: Lililililililililililililili)
