It's advertised as China's LOTR but I feel like it's nothing. It is a style in itself, Wuxia, a legendary Chinese martial art. Think of the hidden dragon. The story and historical elements are great. I find the dialogue a bit cheesy or YAish, but I guess that could be the translation. My problem is all the different martial arts schools and moves. I think as a novel, sometimes it's hard to describe or visualize these movements. In my opinion, it would be easier to portray moves like this in the movie. Worth reading if you want something a little different and original. Don't expect a LOTR-style novel

The intricate web of interwoven characters is actually so finely executed that it's no surprise that someone is completely absorbed in it. The way that everything is written is really complicated but easy to understand and that makes the story so much better. I myself was apprehensive at first with the multitude of characters introduced throughout the story but the way each character is strung along the site is done with a natural fluidity and one will be disappointed in the end. fascinated by it. Although this is just the beginning of a great story, I can guarantee that people will not be disappointed in it. Yes, the beauty of the book is not lost in translation, but the translator does a great job of capturing its essence at the end.
