I received the ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

While this book tells a compelling story, I found it to pull on many points. The author tried to show the connection between the rebels in Ireland who wanted to liberate their country and the last exiles and emigrants in North America. The problem was that the storytelling made Irish Americans look like idiots who had been brawling for several decades. Now, perhaps they did, at least in part, but it seems the real failure of the Fenian movement in North America was to present these people with a viable plan. Obviously, to many men who had been to war, the idea of invading Canada and taking it hostage for the sake of Ireland's eventual freedom didn't sound like a good idea. Of the thousands of men who want to solicit the idea, for even a small invasion to be effective, only a few hundred actually make the necessary invasion, and they don't really care too much about the idea. this thought.
